The Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Office Will Be Receiving Two Highway Safety Enforcement Grants. The Grants, Totaling Just Over 62-Thousand Dollars, Are From The Commonwealth Of Virginia Department Of Motor Vehicles. Sheriff Fred Newman Said The Money Will Be Used To Purchase In-Car Cameras, Radar Equipment, And Training.

The Department of Safety will open eight driver service centers Saturday to help voters who need photo identification cards before the Tuesday general election. Locally, the center in Johnson City will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Services that day will be limited to issuing free photo IDs to registered voters and converting non-photo driver’s licenses to a version with a picture. As of Monday, Tennessee had issued more than 24,000 photo IDs to voters, who this year are required to show photo identification at polling places.

He Threw Her Down A Flight Of Stairs Multiple Times, Held Her Head Under Water Several Times And Put Her In A Clothes Dryer For Four Minutes. Harrell Will Be Back For Sentencing On December 12th.

A Washington County Tennessee Criminal Court Judge Has Denied A Motion Filed By A Man Accused Of Killing Is Ex Wife’s Boyfiend. 59 Year Old James Allen Is Charged With First-Degree Murder In The Shooting Death Of Richard Carter Of Gray In May Of 2010. Allen Had Filed A Motion Seeking To Suppress His Statement To Police In The Shooting Death Of Carter. Judge Robert Cupp Denied The Motion. Allen Remains Jailed On 300-Thousand Dollars Bond. A Trial Date Is Set For February 5th.

A Former Sullivan County Coach Has Entered A Plea To Sexual Assault Charges. Brandon Krantz, Formerly Sullivan Central’s Athletic Director And Basketball Coach, Plead No Contest To Aggravated Statutory Rape. He Was Allegedly Having A Relationship With A 17 Year Old Sullivan Central Student While Married With Two Small Children. Krantz Is Scheduled To Be Sentenced On January 3rd. He Has Asked For Judicial Diversion Which Means, If Granted, The Charges Will Be Erased From His Record After He Serves The Sentence Given To Him By A Judge.

A former Kingsport Police officer convicted of criminal impersonation and forgery has been granted judicial diversion. Bryan Carter pleaded no contest last month to impersonating a former police employee when he sent an email accusing the police chief of misconduct. The message was sent in May to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, officials and the media. The TBI found the allegations were unfounded. It also found that Carter sent the message without the knowledge of the former employee he impersonated. Carter resigned in September. Judicial diversion allows him to have his record expunged after a year of supervised probation. Carter also was required to surrender his law enforcement certificate and complete 10 hours of community service each month.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Has Arrested A Former Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Jail Nurse. 33 Year Old Chesna Hulsey Is Charged With One Count Of Official Misconduct And One Count Of Casual Exchange. Hulsey Is Alleged To Have Given A Jail Inmate Valium In October 2011 While Working As A Nurse Without A Physician’s Prescription And Was Unauthorized To Do So. Hulsey Is Free On A Five Thousand Dollars Bond. She Will Appear In General Sessions Court Today.

A Federal Grand Jury In U.S. District Court In Abingdon Virginia Has Indicted The Former Pennington Gap Police Chief On Drug And Weapons Charges. 41 Year Old William Young Of Stickleyville Is Accused Of Drug Distribution, Weapons Possession And Is Allegedly Linked To The Burglary Of The Pennington Gap Virginia Rite-Aid Pharmacy In September. Prescription Drugs Were Allegedly Found In Young’s Cruiser After He Was Taken Into Custody. He Was Terminated From His Position As Police Chief October 22nd.
