Two Unicoi County Deputies Have Resigned To Avoid Disciplinary Actions. Sheriff Mike Hensley Said The Resignations Of Deputy Randall Killen And Captain Rick Butler Were The Result Of Two Separate Internal Investigations Revealing Misconduct And Inefficiency On The Behalf Of The Officers. According To A Press Release, The Deputies Stepped Down After Being Made Aware Of The Investigations’ Findings, Placed On Admininstrative Leave, And Each Being Informed That A Termination Hearing Would Be Held.
A Greeneville Man Is Behind Bars Following A Chase With Authorities. Brandon Rowe Is Charged With Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, Evading Arrest, Reckless Endangerment, And Resisting Arrest. The Charges Stem From An Alleged Incident Is Which Rowe Was Trying To Get Away From Authorities. The Pursuit Ended When Rowe Crashed His Vehicle On North Greenwood Drive. Then After A Brief Foot Chase, He Was Taken Into Custody. Rowe Is Being Held In The Washington County Detention Center Under A 125-Thousand Dollar Bond. He Will Appear In Sessions Court Soon To Face The Charges.
Crashes At Johnson City Red Light Camera Intersections Have Decreased Slightly. Johnson City Police Chief Mark Sirois Noted They Are Still Seeing Some Red Light Violations Contributing To Angle Crashes, And Quite A Few Failures To Yield. On A Positive Note, Sirois Said Rear-End Crashes Have Gone Down A Bit. There Are Currently Six Cameras Being Used By The Police Department In Johnson City With The First One Installed In 2010.
A High Speed Chase In Washington County Virginia Has Landed A Teenager Behind Bars. Collin Beecroft Is Charged With Reckless Driving And Eluding Police, A Felony Charge. The Chase Begin In The Lowery Hills Subdivision Near John Battle High School. Beecroft Reportedly Circled Around The Subdividion In Bristol Virginia Before Speeding On Lee Highway Toward Abingdon At 110 Miles Per Hour In The Wrong Direction On The Highway. Beecroft Is Being Held In The Southwest Virginia Regional Jail On A 2-Thousand Dollar Bond. He Will Appear In Court Soon.
A Former Kingsport Catholic Priest Convicted Of Rape Wants A New Trial. William Casey Was Sentenced To 35 To 40 Years In Prison After Being Convicted Of Molesting An Altar Boy More Than 30 Years Ago. This Was After A Sullivan County Jury Found Him Guilty. Casey Was Serving As Priest At St. Dominic Catholic Church In Kingsport When The Victim Told Authorities The Crimes Occurred. Attorneys For Casey Filed A Brief Requesting The Tennesee Court Of Criminal Appeals To Reverse His Conviction And Dismiss The Indictments Against Him. His Attorneys Are Also Seeking A New Trial. The Court Has 30 Days To Respond.
A Kingsport Man Accused Of Crashing His Van Into A River And Then Leaving The Scene Is Behind Bars. 28 Year Old John Hunter Is Charged With Leaving The Scene Of An Accident Without Injuries, Failure To Give Immediate Notice Of An Accident And No Insurance. Hunter’s Van Was Found 20 Feet Off Shore In The Holston River And Rescue Crews Were Moments Away And Attempting A Rescue When Hunter Approached Them. He Explained He Had Been Driving The Van On Big Elm Road And Crashed It In The River After Failing To Negotiate A Curve Due To Slick Road Conditions. Hunter’s Being Held On 15-Hundred Dollars Bond And Will Be Arraigned Wednesday Morning.
Educational Leaders In Kingsport Have Began A Policy Review After Two Buses Got Stuck In Last Week’s Snowstorm With Students Aboard. None Of Those Students Or The Drivers Were Injured And Students Were Home By Around 7pm. School Officials Will Be Reviewing The Procedures By Which They Decide Whether To Dismiss School Early During Inclement Weather. The Administration And Facilities Employees Will Look At The Current Practices And Look At Ways To Improve.
