Brandon Krantz Entered No Contest Pleas To The Charges Stemming From A Relationship He Had With A Former School Student. Krantz Was Ordered To Serve Four Years On Probation. He Will Be Required To Register As A Sex Offender, And Will Not Be Allowed To Have Contact With Any Minors Other Than His Own Children.

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell is encouraging everyone to participate in a statewide tornado drill in March. McDonnell proclaimed March 12 as Tornado Preparedness Day. At 9:45 a.m. on that day, NOAA Weather Radio will broadcast a test warning from the National Weather Service. The test warning will then be aired by television and radio stations. Last year, 11 tornadoes struck Virginia, injuring six people and causing $3 million in property damage.

Sullivan County Will Soon Be Searching For A New Propery Assessor. Current Property Assessor, Bob Icenhour, Is Retiring From The Elected Post After More Than 18 Years On The Job. His Last Day Will Be March 31st. Icenhour Said This Is A Reappraisal Year And The Process Of Keying In Information Will Be Finished Next Week And The Reappraisal Cards Will Arrive In The Office Mid-Month. No One Has Been Appointed To Fill Icenhour’s Unexpired Term.

William Dean Told City Leaders This Week That He Doesn’t Agree With The Mayor’s Decision To Hire Back Former Part-Time Police Officer David Dean. In 2007 Dean Was Fired From The Police Department For Failure To Complete His In-Servie Training On Time, Which Is A Requirement Of Annual Post Training. Dean Had Been Suspended From The Department Prior To That For Allegedly Padding His Time Card.

Kingsport Police Say A City Man Tried To Kill His Girlfriend By Rolling His Suv On Interstate 26. 46 Year Old Gary Wilson, Jr. Is Charged With Attempted First Degree Murder, DUI, Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, And Failure To Have Insurance. The Charges Stem From An Incident In Which Wilson Allegedly Tried To Intentionally Steer His Vehicle Into A Guardrail On The Interstate. The Passenger Suffered Only Scrapes And Bruises In The Incident. Wilson Was Reportedly Found To Be Under The Influence. A Court Date For Wilson Is Pending In Sessions Court.

The Tennessee House has voted to send to the governor’s desk a bill to allow the state’s nearly 400,000 handgun carry permit holders to store firearms in their vehicles no matter where they are parked. The chamber voted 72-22 to pass the measure after rejecting a series of Democratic proposals to maintain business owners’ rights to ban weapons on their property and to create exceptions for schools and colleges.

In January Of This Year, Stock Pleaded Guilty To Second Degree Murder, Arson, And Theft Relating To The Disappearance Of Megan Maxwell. He Will Be On Lifetime Supervision When He Is Released From Prison.

Wilbur Landon Said He Had Been Dropped Off On Stanley Valley Road Near The Virginia State Line. He Told Dispatchers He Had A Broken Leg And Was Somewhere In A Wooded Area.
