He’s Accused Of Placing A Pillow Over The Woman Who’s Seven Months Pregnant At Model City Apartments. Witnesses Reportedly Saw Hughes Push Her To The Floor. Hughes Was Gone From The Apartment Before Police Arrived, But Was Captured The Next Day. In Addition To The Assault Charges, Hughes Faces Numerous Drug Charges And Driving On A Revoked License.

Derrick Kitzmiller Is Charged With Attempted First Degree Murder, Evading Arrest, And Reckless Endangerment. The Charges Stem From A Chase And Shootout That Happened On January 3rd. Kitzmiller Is Accused Of Firing At Least Two Shots At Trooper Jeff Appleba. The Trooper Returned Fire At Last Fourteen Times. It’s Not Known Why Kitzmiller Fired At The Trooper.

It Also Calls For The Closure Of Blountville Middle School And Merge It Into Holston Middle. That Proposal Would Save About 844-Thousand Dollars. Another Calls For North And South High Schools To Merge Into One Building And Use One Of The Buildings As A Middle School. A Third Proposal Would Make South High A Grades 7-12, Close The Two South Zone Middle Schools And Make Elementary Schools Grades Pre-K Through 6. This Would Save Nearly 900-Thousand. No Action Was Taken At This Time.
