The Carter County Rescue Squad Has Presented Several Funding Proposals To County Leaders. The Idea Is To Wean The Department From Yearly Contributions From Local Government. The Move Comes After County Commissioners Made Several Deep Cuts In Its Yearly Appropriation To The Squad, Dropping Funding From Over 300-Thousand Dollars A Year Down To 104-Thousand Dollars This Year. Now, Squad Leaders Are Proposing To Charge Fees For Each Response In Exchange For An Exclusive 5-Year Franchise To Operate Emergency Service In The County. Work On Those Proposed Fees Is Continuing And The Ideas Are Expected To Be Discussed Further.
