A former Washington County Virgina teacher has received a five-year suspended sentence for firing a blank gun in class. 61 year old Manuael Ernest Dillow of Kingsport also will spend two years’ probation. Dillow pleaded guilty to brandishing a firearm on school property. Police say Dillow lined up a dozen students at the William N. Neff Center in Abington on April 4 and fired a blank gun multiple times in their direction. Dillow was a welding teacher at the school at the time. Commonwealth’s Attorney Nicole Price says Dillow used the blank gun as a disciplinary method to get the students’ attention.
