Dec 10
The Virginia Department of Forestry is offering a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to those responsible for a wildfire in Dickenson County. Officials say that investigators suspect the Dec. 1 wildfire that burned on private property as well as on National Forest System lands in the Jefferson National Forest was caused by human activity. Woods arson is described as deliberately burning forests, grasslands or brush without the owner’s permission. The felony charge is punishable by up to five years in prison, a fine of $2,500, as well as paying for the cost of putting out the fire.
