Opening Statements Are Set This Morning In The Retrial Of Former Unicoi County Sheriff Kent Harris. Harris Is Charged With Theft Over 1-Thousand Dollars And Criminal Simulation. It’s Alleged That Harris Sought And Received 45-Hundred Dollars In County Funds To Pay For Two Vehicles That Were Actually Donated To The Sheriff’s Office. His Defense Attorney Plans To Show The Money Was A Portion Of The Funding That Was To Go Toward The Care Of Two Bloodhounds Purchased By The County To Serve As Search And Rescue Dogs For The Sheriff’s Department. The Trial Is Expected To Last Through The End Of The Week.
