The City Of Kingsport Will Be Reducing The Size Of A Water Line Project Into Hawkins County. Initially The Project Was Proposed To Serve 180 Homes In The Beech Creek Community South Of Rogersville. The City Decided Not To Accept A One Million Dollar Rural Development Grant From The U.S. Department Of Agriculture To Fund The Work. Instead, The City Agreed To Move Forward On The Project Using The 500-Thousand Dollars In Community Development Block Grant Money, Which Will Allow 40 To 45 Homes To Be Connected On Beech Creek Road. Hawkins County Mayor Melville Bailey Said By Extending A Water Line Into Beech Creek, This Opens The Door For Future Expansions If Funding Becomes Available Again.
