The Crooked Road heritage music trail’s bid to become a National Heritage Area is getting support from the city of Bristol. City Council voted unanimously this week to support the plan. The Crooked Road is a 260-mile corridor between Franklin County south of Roanoke and Dickenson County in the southwestern corner. The Crooked Road executive director Jack Hinshelwood says legislative language proposed by the organization prohibits the designation from having any effect on property rights, land use and zoning. Congress must approve the request.
