The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Is Warning Residents About A “Publisher’s Clearing House” Scam. The Intended Victims Have Received A Call From An 867 Area Code Number Originating In Jamaica From A Person Claiming The Receiving Caller Has Won A Large Prize From The Publishers Clearing House. The Caller Directs The Intended Victim To Provide Several Hundred Dollars Either By Credit Card, Money Order Or Wire, In Order To Cover The Cost Of Shipping The Prizes. Anyone Who Receives A Call Regarding This Type Of Scam Should Not Provide Any Payment Information And Should Notify Authorities.
