A winter storm that blew through Virginia has left three people dead. State police say 22-year-old James D. Hess of Swords Creek died Thursday when his car ran off Route 632 in southwest Virginia, went over an embankment and landed upside down in a creek. Trooper S.A. Sutherland says road conditions were icy. Virginia Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Laura Southard says two other storm-related deaths occurred in the northern part of the state. Virginia State Police responded to more than 650 storm-related traffic accidents.
